Support MRC's Mobile Foodshare Market!

Mountain Resource Center (MRC), established in 1990, serves as a vital resource in Jefferson County, one of six counties comprising the Denver Metro Area. As the only agency along the Highway 285 corridor offering multigenerational, integrated services, MRC supports low-income residents at every life stage, from infancy to older adulthood.

One of our foundational programs, the Community Health Food Share, addresses food insecurity and nutrition equity through accessible no-cost Food Markets. We have an onsite and mobile locations, Everyday Eats (food boxes) for adults 60+, and Culinary Adventures cooking classes.

MRC's Mobile Food Share, with the mission we will meet you where you are, ensures all have access to healthy food by traveling weekly to six locations where food access is limited, from low-income housing complexes to senior centers. We provide healthy and fresh produce, meat, and dairy options sourced locally. For example, we source our meats from ranchers just 12 miles from our agency. Clients are able to choose the foods that work best for their dietary needs and families.

Due to recent funding cuts and freezes, MRC will need to stretch its budget to meet the growing community need. Since 2019, we have seen a 300% increase in weekly food distribution, growing from 40 households a week to 150, and from 1,000 pounds of food to 4,500. This growth reflects both rising demand and our commitment to closing food access gaps in our geographically isolated area, classified as “low access” by the USDA, with the nearest full-service grocery store over ten miles away for many residents.

With increased funding from individual donors, we will be able to ensure that our clients will not face food insecurity and hunger. Your support will have an immediate and live-changing impact for our community members who are most in need.
